August 1st Eastern Connecticut Wine Trail Cruise and Dinner

COF Summer Eastern Wine Trail Cruise & Dinner

Date: Sunday, August 1, 2010 Rain Date: Sunday August 8, 2010

Note: Cruise Will meet at 10:15AM and Depart at 10:30AM



We will meet at the Truck Weighing Station on I-95 just after Exit 81 on Parkway South, caravan as a club to visit two very different wineries: Jonathan Edwards and Maugle Sierra Vineyards. For a finale, we will be stopping at a family owned, popular Italian Restaurant to eat dinner. The restaurant is located 2 minutes from the Maugle Sierra winery. The menu has full entrees, beef, chicken, seafood specialties, Italian pizza, salads, Pasta and grinders. We will be able to reserve a private dining area to eat together as a club. • 10:15 AM Meet at Truck Weighing Station on I-95 just after Exit 81 on Parkway South

• 10:30 AM Depart as a group to Jonathan Edwards Vineyards

• 10:40 AM Stop at Scenic Overlook on I-95 for photoshoot

• 11:00 AM Arrive at Jonathan Edwards Vineyards 74 Chester Maine Rd North Stonington, CT

• Jonathan Edwards Vineyards Taste the First five Wines for $8.50 plus tax. Wines are priced from $18 to $35 per bottle and $8.00 to $10.00 per glass.

• 12 Noon Eat your Lunch (bring a light snack, fruit or light sandwich from home)

• 12:30 PM Depart Jonathan Edwards to Maugle Sierra Vineyards Ledyard, CT

• 12:45 PM Arrive Maugle Sierra Vineyards Ledyard, CT (bring a snack, cheese, crackers from home)

• Maugle Sierra Vineyards Taste the First Six Wines for $8.00 plus tax. Wines are priced from $17 to $22 per bottle and $8.00 to $10.00 per glass.

• 2:20 PM Depart Maugle Sierra Vineyards Ledyard, CT to Valentinos Restaurant

• 2:30 PM Arrive at Valentino’s Restaurant (Valentino Restaurant, 725 Colonel Ledyard Highway, Ledyard, CT., 06339. Best Italian Cuisine & Pizza in the Area)

• 3:30 PM Depart for home


Driving Directions: Wine Trail is 36 miles and takes 56 minutes

Starting at Truck Weighing Station after Exit 81 on I-95 N

Take ramp onto I-95 N go 16.8 mi

Take exit #92/NO. STONINGTON (CT-49)/PAWCATUCK

Turn on LIBERTY ST(CT-2)

Continue to follow CT-2

Turn on NORWICH WESTERLY RD(CT-2 W)

Turn on RYDER RD

Bear on WYASSUP RD

Turn on WYASSUP RD

Turn on CHESTER MAINE RD go 0.22 mi
20.88 mi

Arrive at Jonathan Edwards Vineyards on the Right


Starting at Jonathan Edwards Vineyards on CHESTER MAINE RD turn left out of the parking lot going toward WYASSUP RD

Turn on WYASSUP RD go 144 ft

Turn on RYDER RD

Bear on RYDER RD go 1.58 mi

Turn on NORWICH WESTERLY RD(CT-2) go 1.96 mi

Continue to follow CT-2 go 3.55 mi

Turn on MATTHEWSON MILL RD go 0.66 mi

Continue on MATHEWSON MILL RD go 1.11 mi

Continue on CHURCH HILL RD go 1.12 mi

This Cruise is on. The weather will be partly sunny and mild.

This will be a fun time! Do not miss out and stay home!

Thanks to Brad, Tanya, Matt, Dave and Stacey for showing up to the August 1st Wine Cruise.

The weather was perfect, the wine was sparkling and the scenery was spectacular.

The other members that went last week by themselves on July 25th had a great time too.

let's see a total 10 cars and at least 21 Members/Guests. That sounds like a good cruise. Yes I understand it was at two different Sundays. But everyone that went had a Good time. So I say the Cruise was a success and worth doing again next year.
