What's this engine part? (for fun)

Some of you know me, I'm one of the 301 nuts.

Anyways. we've seen and had a little fun with "what's
this part" on my 301 forum, and thought some of these
might be fun here too.

I "think" this is common to most all Pontiac V-8's,
but was in a 301...

It's actually two pieces that are always together as a team.



and it is a bit mishapen, where, what and why?

That's the Fuel Pump Cam. I's an off center cam the is bolted to the timimg gear. That is userd to drive the fuel pump.

bet the pump didnt work to good with that one.

yep the 301 used it.
