What did you do for Father's Day?

Post by mr71transam on Mon Jun 21, 2010 8:28 am

Well for my Father's Day, Judy gave up her Sunday at Church to spend the day with me at the Dream Cars for Kid's show. It was really nice to have her with me. Got to talk to a few of the Guys (Steve, Max, Rob, Fil, Joe, and Earl).

Busy day for me...I thought Father's Day was supposed to be easy and laid back and my kids were supposed to do everything?

In the morning I was at the New Haven Coin Show,

At noon we took the Firebird to the Cars for Cancer Research Show (my wife is a 7 year survivor).

For dinner, my wife and three children took me to Outback Steakhouse for a medium rare steak and a 22 ounce cold Fosters.

I cut grass, gave the puppy a bath, as well as two vehicles, Lisa's Firebird, and my Jeep Cheerokee.
Had a beer.
Nice hot day.
Oh, and I don't have any kids.
But I did call my Dad and wished him a Happy Father's Day. Very Happy

My brother and I went and took my Father and Mom out to dinner at the 99 Resturant. Nothing major. A nice late lunch/conversation and the usual corny/funny Halmark cards.

My First Show with the New TA on Father's Day

Post by Steve on Wed Jun 23, 2010 10:11 pm

I went to the Dream Cars for kids show in East Windsor, CT with the Pace Car and had a good time. In the morning I woke up at my father's house in Duxbury, MA, and drove two hours home. When I started up the Turbo Trans Am I was in driving heaven. I love driving that thing. I got to the show around noon, met some new people who liked my car. It was fun.

Going home I took the longest route I could find and the most winding back road. I have to say a turbo is not the torque monster like my 400 is but this car is nice and smooth around corners. This car is a hoot to drive. I'm really not a quarter miler anyway and this car loves the winding back roads. The mid range tourque when that turbo winds up (almost sounds like a police car is tailing you with the whine it makes) is thrilling. The second to third shift is like a slam. I have an article somewhere from back in the day taht tests all the great cars of 1980. The best performance car was a normally aspirated 301 equipped Trans Am, the article stating that the car with the smaller engine is less nose heavy. It even beat out the Corvette for best handling car of that year. Not bad for an 11 year old design at the time.

The Turbo Trans Am may not be a white knuckle quarter mile hauler but I think it is a great GT car. This car is sure and competent, no understeer and you still can oversteer whenever you want. I made it home just before it started to rain, luckily because my windsheild wipers don't work. I'm waiting on a part from Classic Industries. The car did get rained on in the drive way. I ran out to move it into the garage but instead I grabbed my camera. What a shot.

Excellent posts for everyone on Fathers Day.

I was hoping that one of you guys were going to say that the family detailed your car while you watched and had a beer!
