Console Mounted GM CBD-10 CB Radio

Post by 4SPEED on Sat Aug 13, 2011 8:16 pm

Im installing a GM CB radio into my console map pocket.
I've had the CB for years but with no way to install it. but with the help of Pete @ Fbodywarehouse , I now have the mount and trim bezel to install it.

here is a few pics.

the Bezel Fbodywarehouse had it made and now sells ( add link once avalible )

I have a repro console so some triming had to be done for this install

installed the trim bezel

installed the CB

Wow... that is a great retrofit for an original GM CB radio.

And the CB looks like it is brand new.

Thanks for the post!

thanks , but its not really a retrofit . you could order this with your 77 or older t/a for a GM install . or buy it at the GM dealer for a dealer install.

here is a 17k mile 77 ta with one.

Thanks for posting guys. Those are good shots. Would either of you mind me using the pictures on Tran-zam.com? I am developing an interior features page.

I like the design of that 1977 interior with the CB set up. I never saw one installed in the lower console map pocket.

After all these years I am still learning new things about the second generation F bodies. Thanks for the info.

As always you have done a Great job. What was the option number for this?
How long did it take you to track down the GM CB?

I'll look up the RPO code . I have it somewhere.

the CB is easy to find. its the bezel and mounting bracket that are a PITA to find.

The RPO Code is UN8 for the 23 channel CB in 1977, the first year the CB was offered. In 1978/1979 the 40 channel CB was offered with AM/FM radio as UP5 and UP6 for AM/FM with stereo. UP6 was the only available CB with AM/FM in 1980/1981 as UP6.

It looks like you have the rarest of the breed.

That's a 10-4 good buddy. We'll be stoppin' at the choke 'n puke to get some go-go juice and put some groceries down our necks. Keep the wheels spinnin' and the beavers grinnin'.
