-- The 2011 9th Annual All Firebird Lawn Show will run concurrently with the Adirondack Motor Enthusiast Club (AMEC) Autocross to be held out on the track during our car show. I have been talking with those folks since October of 2010 and convinced them to run concurrently with us. If you would like to participate in the Autocross event, we will make special arrangements to judge your car before you take to the track in order to give you maximum points for your detailing efforts and not make you clean your car when you come back to the show from the track. There are multiple classes for stock and modified cars in small block and V8 classes. If you would like to be a part of the AMEC Autocross, contact Dave Burnham at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for more details. Cost to participate in the AMEC Autocross will be in addition to car show registration.

-- The 8th Annual All Firebird Cruise will go to Albany-Saratoga Speedway. There will be a Cruise Participation Fee in amount of $10 per car. The Friday July 8, 2011 All Firebird Cruise will be a total package. Pre-registration is recommended since participation may be limited due to a large anticipated turnout. The package includes: Cruise departs with police escort from Saratoga SPA State Park lot adjacent to the auto museum, Cruisers VIP Parking on the Albany-Saratoga Speedway property away from general parking; Firebird Cruise participants get admission into the Speedway Grandstands to view a full card of auto racing Friday night starting at 7:00 p.m. (admission regular price $15-20). During the mid-race intermission, Firebird Cruisers take to the paved 4/10 mile OVAL NASCAR sanctioned track in front of thousands of spectators and NASCAR sanctioned racers and Cruise around the track for about 15 minutes or about 6-8 laps, all as part of the Cruise package. There are bathrooms right behind the grandstands. There is Albany-Saratoga Speedway food, beverage, and souvenir concessions available at additional charge behind the grandstands. This will be an exciting night for everyone that participates in the 2011 All Firebird Cruise. Albany-Saratoga Speedway participates in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series is the grassroots foundation of NASCAR and consists of more than 50 short tracks across North America. Since its inception, it has served as the springboard for many NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers including Greg Biffle, Clint Bowyer, Jeff Burton, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin and Jamie McMurray. Albany-Saratoga Speedway Friday night events will include NASCAR Division I, NASCAR Modifieds based on dirt-style chassis that add a newly introduced GM 602 crate engine; Division II, Pro Late Models; Division III, Renegades; Division IV, Bomber Warriors which are four cylinder front wheel drive cars. Legends cars have been added to weekly racing at the track this year. And now you will have a chance to circle the track. This will be an exciting night! Do not miss this event!

-- Show Hotel Reservation Line is now open. Fairfield Inn and Suites in Malta continues to be the official hotel of the All Firebird Lawn Show and now with the show less than two miles from the show hotel, life is even easier for our long hauler Firebird friends and show participants. In keeping with our down-home low-stress family friendly show style, there will be no tech line. Each participant will determine his/her Class at time of entry. Following are All Firebird Lawn Show Class Competition Guidelines and Clarifications. We reserve the right to move any entry not properly classed. As always, the decision of our judges is final.

Stock Class guidelines and allowable exceptions:

All Stock entries will be judged on cleanliness and attention to detail over the entire car from top to bottom and based on 100 point system. Convertible tops up, T-Tops installed, driver side window down. Stock entries will also be judged on correctness and originality of a stock car. The key here is that any exceptions should maintain a stock appearance. Someone entering the stock class should expect that maximum points will go to the most factory correct or factory appearing correct car. The following are allowable exceptions in Stock Class competition:

Any stock appearing floor mats, door handle inserts, door lock knobs, aftermarket shifter.

Any Firebird wheels from the same model year,

Any updated tires and stock appearing valve stem caps.

Any aftermarket exhaust system (excluding headers) with stock appearing tips.

Any factory option from the same model year and any stock appearing window tints

Any updated radio, stereo, CB, or radar detector that fits without dash modification.

Any stock type body side moldings or factory type aftermarket replacement parts

The stock hood scoop made functional (opened up)

All parking stickers, permits, and club stickers are permitted.

Modified Class guidelines and changes requiring placement in Modified Class

All Modified entries will be judged on cleanliness and attention to detail over the entire car from top to bottom and based on 100 point system. Convertible tops up, T-Tops installed, driver side window down. Modified entries will also be judged on presentation, quality of workmanship, ‘coolness’, ‘bling’, and cohesiveness of theme.

The following changes require automatic placement in the Modified Class:

Any custom paint including a non-factory available color

Any non-factory headers, or aftermarket, fabricated, or custom intakes

Any non-factory engine chrome, aftermarket carburetor, or non-stock appearing wheels

Any upholstery changes that are clearly non-factory in appearance, design, or color.

Any audio system that includes dash modification or large amplifier systems.

Any exterior speaker systems that are clearly non-factory appearance in design or color.

Any non-stock appearing emblems, birds, paint, or graphics.

Any body modifications including non factory hoods, scoops, blending of seams, etc.

Any aftermarket engine or other engine not available on that model year

Any aftermarket blower, fuel injection, turbo, tunnel ram, nos, tubbed, roll cages, etc.

-- The FNONA 2nd Annual All Car and Truck Show at Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta NY now has a confirmed date of September 17, 2011 from 9am - 4pm with a Rain Date of September 18, 2011 to benefit Saratoga Bridges (formerly Saratoga ARC). The 2011 date was moved earlier by one week from the 2010 date so as not to conflict with three other shows running on the same weekend. I can now confirm that we will run concurrent with the AMEC Autocross club. We had a very good turnout of Firebirds at the 2010 All Car and Truck Show and hope to increase that number for 2011.

LMAO on the fifty bucks!

Thank you Rick. I felt it was time to make it easier for everyone to use PayPal to pre-register for FNONA events and pay dues. As a club, we had all of our ducks in a row with the incorporation, the not-for-profit 501(c)(3), and the bank account. So it was a natural progress to go ahead and set up a PayPal account.

A number of members and participants have asked in the past and it was finally time to try to automate some of our tasks that keep growing with an ever growing show.

We look forward to seeing you in Saratoga as well as all of our Firebird Friends from The Birds Nest!

I think this is going to be a big one! With the move to the Albany-Saratoga Speedway, the AutoCross, the Cruise to the Albany-Saratoga speedway with Firebirds on the NASCAR sanctioned PAVED OVAL at intermission, a Full Card of Racing, Restrooms and Concessions right on the show field, and no restrictions on noise and other show props, this is an exciting move and enhancement to the All Firebird Lawn Show.

I hope everyone enjoys. We are trying to increase and enhance this show to be the premier Firebird show and a fun event to raise money for an excellent cause.

She's getting an interior refresh but I can't afford the paint and decal freshening I wanted this year. Did you get my membership paperwork too?

We will be spreading the good word back east about the show. I am hoping to make at least one show this year in Rhode Island and one near Boston. I would love to see some new birds there, and lots of 'em.

You have to go on Friday to hang with all of us bird lovers. You can meet up with us on the caravan to the show. Also it would be great to see your pace car where it belongs during the halftime cruise on the track.

Hey John, I really hope something works out where you'll be able to go Friday. We would have a ball. The Friday night event last year in the parking lot was a blast. I don't know how these guys did it but they had music, cars, food and drink. What a great time.

My favorite pic from our cruise last year:

If I were to go it would have to be as a spectator. Single digit fuel mileage is going to hurt the drive time this year.

Don as the Show gets closer you'll start to see where the Birds will be meeting up to cruise together. Even if you can't bring one of your Birds I'm sure you would enjoy the cruise to the Show.

Updates

Hotel reservations are running ahead of last year and the hotel is already more than half full for Friday night so you might want to book now if you plan to stay at the official show hotel Fairfield Inn and Suites of Malta / Saratoga. See below / quick links / show flyer/hotel and click the link then at the download page click hotel/motel info.

-- Some participants come to Saratoga and camp at Sacandaga Lake or Lake George. This year, the Albany-Saratoga Speedway has invited us camp out at the Speedway lot. And better yet, you can camp for free. What? That is right, you can Camp For Free! And if you are pulling a Car Hauler, you can leave your rig in the lot for the weekend for free! If you camp in your rig, we ask you to stay in a group with the other Firebird Campers and help watch the rigs and cars. If you would like to camp at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway, please contact me for more info.

-- The New York State Police have committed to escorting our All Firebird Cruise on July 8, 2011 at 5pm from the SPA State Park paved lot adjacent to the Saratoga Auto Museum and down Route 9 to the Albany-Saratoga Speedway. We need to give them a car count in advance so I am asking all Firebird participants that want to be a part of the All Firebird Cruise to Albany-Saratoga Speedway to please pre-register for the Cruise. You can send a $10 check or money order payable to Firebird Nation of North America, Inc. and mail to: Sandra Smith, 2 Eureka Drive, Saratoga Springs NY, 12866-9031. Reference: 2011 Cruise in the memo line OR you can pre-register online with PayPal. See more info below. We need to give them a car count well in advance to the event.

Controlled access means we no longer have to be concerned with bicycles, dogs on leashes, unescorted children, etc. and we are no longer subject to stringent noise and other regulations required by the NYS Parks commission. If you are unfamiliar with these folks, here is a link [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] If you would like to also participate in the Autocross event, we will make special arrangements to judge your car before you take to the track in order to give you maximum points for your detailing efforts and not make you clean your car when you come back to the show from the track. There are classes for stock and modified cars in small block and V8 classes. If you would like to be a part of the AMEC Autocross, contact Dave Burnham at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for more details. Jim I'm really looking forward to this years show. Looks like a lot of fun changes. I know they are always looking for judges. Any thought on that?

I made mine for the 8th. It sounds like there is something going on for the 7th that I am thinking about making a reservation for.
